Here is some information to help you choose the right hunt, hunt areas, and applications.
We hunt the following areas for these species: Elk: Area 84, Deer: Region H, Area 152, Moose: Area 10, Sheep: Area 7, Black Bear: Area 17, Antelope: Areas 87,88,89, and 90, and Mountain Lion: Area 2. Applications for licenses are available from: Wyoming Game and Fish Department, 5400 Bishop Blvd. Cheyenne, Wy. 82006-0001. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department Web site is: gf.state.wy.us and applications, regulations, etc. may be downloaded there. The General Hunting and Fishing information hotline is (307) 777-4600. Elk, Deer, and Moose Hunts:

The Spotted Horse Ranch has been Outfitting hunters since 1961. We have two camps, as well as ten guest cabins at the ranch. We currently own more than fifty horses, so we will be sure to have one to suit your style. Elk, Deer, and Moose hunts take place from our Hunter Creek Camp, located sixteen miles into the backcountry. This camp is the larger of the two, in the heart of 152,000 acres of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Such amenities as a heated shower tent, large cook and dining tent, and running water are in place during the summer season as well as the fall hunting season. Accommodations are canvas wall tents, 10’X12’, each equipped with wood stove for heat, cots, pads, nightstands, and lights. Hunters sleep two to a tent. Two private restroom facilities are available. Dining is in our spacious cook tent, and meals are served family style. Soda pop, water, juice and beer are provided to each hunter. We are happy to pack any other beverages to camp for you. While hearty food is the rule, special diets can be attended to as well.

On arrival at the Spotted Horse Ranch, you will have all the amenities of the Ranch available for you use, including lodging in one of our guest cabins, hot-tub, sauna, and all meals. We can transport you to a 100-yard range just south of Jackson to check your rifle. To ensure that our horses stay fresh and healthy, we rotate each day to a different horse. Two horses and a saddle will be selected for you for the following days ride into Hunter Creek Camp. Scabbards and saddlebags are provided as well. Wyoming State Law allows up to six hunters to one guide in our area, but we have found that two to one gives not only a better quality hunt, but increases our success ratio as well. Reaching camp on the second night, Dinner will be served and plans formulated for the next morning's hunt.

You will have a total of seven nights in Hunter Creek Camp, riding/hunting, out on day eight to return to the ranch. All meat and trophies are cared for by experienced packers, and transported to the ranch to our walk-in meat cooler. Meat processing and taxidermy are both available in Jackson. The country we hunt is steep and rugged, and much hunting will be done on foot as well as horseback; please consider the physical nature of such a hunt.

Antelope Hunts:
Antelope Hunting is a day hunt from the Ranch. Transportation by vehicle and all meals are provided. A typical antelope hunt would be: Breakfast at the Ranch at 5:30, depart for hunting areas by six A.M. A sack lunch is provided. We usually return to the ranch by seven P.M. for dinner.

Suggested Items:
Here is an idea of what to bring for a hunt, and some guidelines to make your packing easier. All gear and supplies are transported on packhorses, which somewhat limits the size and weight of luggage or duffle bags. It is better to have several small bags than one large one. For the least disturbance to your gear, bags should be no larger than 14"X14"X22", and weigh no more than 40 pounds. There is a limit of two such bags per hunter, not including a sleeping bag. Should larger bags be provided, we must many times rearrange and redistribute the clothing and gear to obtain proper size and balance suitable for horse packing. Fragile or sensitive items such as video cameras, glass containers, etc. require special attention. We pride ourselves in our ability to transport almost anything by horse packing, and are always happy to do so; you can help by providing reasonable loads to be packed safely.

Clothing:

• 1 pair of cotton socks for each day
• 1 pair of wool socks for each day
• Long underwear tops and bottoms
• Jeans/ t-shirts
• Long-sleeve shirts, both heavy and light weight
• Warm, quiet coat *we suggest wool
• Warm, quiet, heavy pants *we suggest wool
• Warm hunting hat or baseball cap with earflaps
• Light, quiet raingear
• Gloves, 1 pair light and 1 pair heavy
• 1 pair of comfortable insulated boots and 1 pair of comfortable camp shoes/boots to change into
• 1 fluorescent orange garment to be worn visibly. Hat, coat, or vest.

• Scoped rifle and ammo
• Binoculars
• Camera
• Pocketknife or belt knife
• Leatherman tool or similar pocket tool for emergency repairs
• Small flashlight to be carried on your person while afield
• Toiletries, medication
• Small travel alarm clock
• Water bottle
• Hunting license with conservation stamp must be carried on your person at all times

Weather:
We cannot always determine what the weather will be like in Wyoming. Snow, rain, or sleet may occur at anytime, though it may also be quite balmy in September and October. You can expect the temperatures to be between 10-30 degrees in the mornings and between 20-80 degrees in the afternoons. Layering your clothing is the most effective way to stay comfortable. Nights can be on the cool side, but all of our tents are equipped with woodstove heaters; they also do a good job of drying out wet gear.

Rates: Our rate for the eight-day hunt is $3,950 per hunter. There is a 6% sales tax on 40% of that total. Antelope hunting maybe included in your eight-day hunt or can be provided in addition for $400 per hunter per day. We also offer a 4 day antelope and fishing package based from the ranch for $1,800 per hunter.

Deposit/Cancellation policy:
1) No deposit is required or accepted until such time as a hunter or party of hunters receives and holds a valid Wyoming hunting license or licenses.

2) At such time a 25% deposit will be accepted to confirm and hold hunt dates for said client(s).

3) Cancellations made earlier than one month from the hunt's beginning date will receive a refund of their deposit less 25%, or the full deposit amount may be applied to the following year if desired.

4) Cancellations within one month of the hunt's beginning date: If the hunt dates can be filled with another hunter or group of hunters, a refund of the deposit less 25% will be issued, or the full amount may be applied to the following year. In the event that the hunt dates remain unfilled or unused due to the late cancellation, Spotted Horse Ranch, Inc will retain the entire deposit.

5) All clients are made aware of this policy before any deposit will be accepted.

6) The Spotted Horse Ranch will also honor the Wyoming Game & Fish License Refund Policy.
